yeah, thats what I do!!!
I had been looking out for some nice chat widgets to add to my blog so that I can chat with my blog readers in case they have some doubts (I am talkin about my tech blog techTamasha )
I found 2 clients that were worth a try namely google’s chat client and Plugoo (supports most IM services)
I decided on using Plugoo. Not only because it supports various IM services but also because it has a cute interface(check it on my site techTamasha.com )
Plugoo.com gives you various options to edit the chat interface as per your needs.

In case of space constraints on your blog, the gtalk widget seems like a better option.

Hi,
I have added you yesterday and already have become a big fan of you.
The technical help you are providing is simply great.
Ok, I also want a chat box for my blog but wherever I have seen pluggo, I found it very slow. What’s your take on this ?
Which one should I go for ? Earlier I had shoutmix. What do you say ?

Also, mine is self hosted wordpress blog. The recent comments widget that you are using looks good compared to what wordpress ofers for free.
How to get this one ?

@Cuckoo thanks for the appreciation
About the chat widget – yeah I too found a bit of problems with plugoo (at times shows me as offline even when I’m online)
Gtalk however looks good. So if you are satisfied with just a link that says click here to chat or something then gtalk widget would do. But if you want your readers to see a chat widget on ur blog itself then plugoo is better. You take a call on this
I’m not sure about the ‘Recent comments’ widget (it came with my theme by default) but as far as I know even my blogs ‘Recent Comments’ uses the same methods as the regular wordpress recent comments widget
