I’ve had a lot of people asking for a tool like this so ended up making one! I made it in order to suffice my needs as well as for anyone looking out for an app like this. But I never thought the app would be loved so much by twitter users!

JustUnfollow has had hundreds of tweets where its mentioned and to be frank I read only one bad comment (must probably be from a spammer!). Every other twitter user who’s tweeted about JustUnfollow has had something nice to say about it!

Hope you give the app a spin. In the last 2 weeks, JustUnfollow has been featured on TechCrunch, MakeUseOf, KillerStartups and many other blogs and websites.

Twitter is a blessing in disguise for the developer community.

I’ve been a twitter user for quite some time now and my twitter handle is @NischalShetty . Like other twitter users, I too love the various twitter apps out there. The idea of twi5 emerged when I needed a twitter app that I had previously used but couldn’t remember the name.

Of course, as you might be thinking, I too went in for a Google search. But damn! I could find the app only on the 3rd page! This got me thinking. Since twitter would be growing by the day, so will the apps being developed. It would be virtually impossible to search for a particular twitter app using google.

Thus twi5 was born! The next time you want to know of a twitter app that helps you unfollow twitter users who do not follow you or an app that would help you get email alerts for search terms on twitter search or if you are a new twitter user and want to know the coolest Adobe AIR apps for twitter , twi5.com is the place to be.

Both the blogs claim that twply was sold off for $1200 and along with it all the user credentials have been transferred to the buyer.

What this means is that your twitter account could be misused by the buyer!

You need not panic. I guess there is a way out of this mess.

The easiest thing to do would be to change your twitter password. But that would mean having to change the password in all the other twitter apps that you regularly use.

So, I suggest you follow the steps below :

• Change your twitter password
• Go to twply and log in with the New Password
• Now go to twitter and change your password back to the old one

What would happen is that twply would now have your new password whereas you would have reverted back to your old one.

P.S. The most fool proof way still is to change your password altogether. I have suggested this method because I know of a lot of friends who use the same password for all their accounts. In such cases following the above steps would help you in avoiding a lot of trouble.

If you want a twitter app that sends an email of your @Replies then try twittApps Replies recommended by Techcrunch .

They have relaunched the service and it looks all the more better. I use Name Search a lot of times to find my friends whose email address I do not have. Name Search makes my job a lot easier.

The twitter blog says that the new name search is much faster, more relevant, and it even has a phonetic similarity algorithm which is
basically fancy talk for spell check on names.

What that means is, if you were to search for Barack Obama but spelled it as Barack Obbama then it would ask you the question

"Did you mean Barack Obama?"

When you join a site which uses Google Friend Connect using your twitter account, you get to see your followers who have already registered on the site thus helping you network with your friends better.

As most of you know, twitter can really help a site go viral and hence this feature seems to be the right thing to do on Google’s part.

To send a tweet about a site you have joined, click the invite link in the members gadget, then click the Twitter icon on the share tab.

Well, if you use Firefox then you can install a plugin from LongURL.org . It is a firefox plugin to expand a shortened url.

Once the plugin is installed, all you need to do is hold your mouse pointer over the short link and the real address will be displayed as a tool tip.

iTweet is one of the most useful web interfaces for twitter. The most important feature that caught my eye was the auto refresh functionality. If you are one of those who uses twitter’s official site then you would know how tedious it gets to refresh the twitter homepage every now and then to check out new tweets.

Apart from this, iTweet also has the convenient in reply to option. Whenever you see an @reply , you can see the tweet to which the reply was right then and there without having to go to another page.

What I did not like so much though, was the ‘look’ of the site. However, I was happy to know that I could have my twitter background at the click of a button!

Twitter and why you should be on it

Twitter sounds boring at first, but trust me, as you start using it, you would know how useful it can be. I stay updated on all the latest news through twitter. All current affairs seem to be updated first on twitter by the various users!

If I ever have doubts about anything, I just tweet the question and wait confidently for someone to answer it almost immediately.

When I started blogging, I had a hard time getting people to know about my blog. Twitter came to my rescue here too (although there were many other sites which helped me too and would soon blog about them as well) . Whenever I write a new post, I post a tweet and people who find it interesting come over to the blog.

To get you started quickly on twitter, here are a few of the things you should know and do:

1. Register: Sign up for twitter with a nice username (preferably your name or the name of your blog)

2. Follow: Start following new people either through the ‘Find People’ opton on your twitter homepage or twitter search (lot of options in ‘Advanced Search’) by searching  for words of interest. You can follow me on twitter.

3. Reply: Start interacting with people by replying if you have answers or comments on their tweets using the ‘@’ keyword. Ex. my username is ‘NischalShetty’ so you would reply to me using ‘@NischalShetty’ (without the quotes)

There are a lot of third party applications through which you can use twitter. I would be blogging about these soon.

Till then you go ahead and play around at twitter.
