I got UBUNTU 8.10 installed on my PC and it looks good to me.

The first thing I did after installing UBUNTU was to download Adobe AIR ( I love twitter and use twhirl ). Adobe AIR is out of beta for Linux which is another reason why you should install it.

I finished downloading AdobeAIRInstaller.bin and thought that a simple double click would do the job. But, to my dismay, I got an error!

A little googling and I was able to find a solution.

You can try the two methods listed below. Hope one of them helps you in installing adobe AIR on your Linux.

Source: wired blog .

Go to the Terminal

(How to access Linux Terminal : Applications ->Accessories ->Terminal )

and type:

chmod u+x AdobeAIRInstaller.bin

If that doesn’t help then try typing this in the Terminal :

./AdobeAIRInstaller.bin

Note : If you encounter a ‘Permission Denied ‘ error on trying the above method to install Adobe AIR then go to the AdobeAIRInstaller.bin file -> Right Click -> Properties -> Permissions -> Check the ‘Execute ‘ – Allow executing file as program option and try again.

To take advantage of the badge install feature of AIR, you will need to update to the latest version of Flash Player for Linux (10.0.15.3).

I hope this article has helped you solve the Adobe AIR installation problem on UBUNTU. I do not know if the problem exists in other flavours of Linux. If it does, then do try out these methods, might help.
