yeah, thats what I do!!!
go2cut is a url shortening service. If you are active on social networks and micro blogging platforms like twitter, plurk and other such sites, you would definitely need this one.
Bloggers use url shortening services for posting links to their latest posts. Online marketers use them for posting their affiliate links. Small convenient url’s seem to be the order of the day when it comes to microblogs.

Apart from shortening the URL, go2cut has a few fresh features which I haven’t seen in other such services.
1. Password Protection – You can password protect the shortened url so that only those who have the password can access it.
2. Statistics – Now you can track how many of your friends clicked on the url posted by you on various sites. A good idea would be to post different links on each of your social network and check which ones get the most clicks.
3. Bookmarklet – go2cut has a bookmarklet which you can drag and drop to your browser toolbar. After that, anytime you need to shorten a url just click the bookmarklet and you’re done!
4. Virus Scan - When you click on a link posted by your friends which have been shortened using go2cut, the links are scanned for viruses using the Dr.Web Anti Virus tool.
You can follow go2cut on twitter.

I’m working on a service such as this so that you don’t have to rely on external services … services such as this which your customers shouldn’t have to trust. If you wouldn’t click a shortened URL then you shouldn’t expect your customers too either. You knew that shortening services are lethal for masking security attacks against your customers, right?

@Andy
I’m looking forward to knowing more about the application that you are planning to develop. Would be great to try it out
