Did you notice the all new Google favicon ! It appears in the address bar everytime you visit a google site like google.com or gmail.com . The logo looks pretty cool and a lot better than the plain old logo that google previously had.

Marissa Mayer(VP,Search Products,Google) has this to say on Google’s official blog

The reason is that we wanted to develop a set of icons that would scale better to some new platforms like the iPhone and other mobile devices.

She also goes on to add that this isn’t the final favicon (the google obsession of having everything beta). And as always, she invites users to send in their version of the google favicons. So if you think you have a better design send it to them.. chances are it might be viewed by millions everyday!!
