Google has announced that users would now be able to see images from the LIFE magazine photo archive online and these could be searched on Google Image Search! It seems that a vast majority of these images have been in print and never put up online till now.

Google says on its blog :

We’re excited to announce the availability of never-before-seen images from the LIFE photo archive. This effort to bring offline images online was inspired by our mission to organize all the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. This collection of newly-digitized images includes photos and etchings produced and owned by LIFE dating all the way back to the 1750s.

Alternatively, in google image search, you can type the keyword followed by source:life to search only for images from LIFE’s collection. For Example, to search for Taj Mahal images you type in Taj Mahal source:life.
