I came across this short article on Seth Godin’s blog which debates whether personal blogs would die a slow death on the Internet.
Godin puts forth his point by arguing how the technorati top 10 blogs are all multi author blogs.

We have to agree that there is a direct relation between the number of posts on your blog and the traffic generated. Most of the traffic that bloggers get is from either search engines or subscribers.
It’s a known fact that more updates on your blog would lead to more hits from your subscribers. The same holds good for search engines too. The more posts you have the more your chances of being searched.
Agreed, multi author blogs would drive in more traffic but the joy of having a blog that you can say is “solely authored by you” is priceless ;o)

Yeah, I guess you are right
Personal blogs were always meant to make the bloggers happy that they have a place where they can rant and say stuff they like (or hate) without having to bother about what the world thinks about it ;o)
But somewhere along the way, came google adsense which corrupted all our minds and put us in search of the golden goose
